Les jardins du Château de Sept-Fonts – 1h

A few kilometres from Périgueux, the Château de Sept-Fonts is located in Trélissac.
This château is a fine example of classical architecture. Dating from the mid-18th century, its architect was none other than Victor Louis, architect of the Bordeaux theatre and several châteaux and private mansions in Paris and the provinces.
On the courtyard side, the château has a façade with a slight avant-corps on which can be seen the coats of arms of Bernard du Faure de Rochefort (President Treasurer of France at the Guyenne office) and his wife Françoise Du Cluzel de la Chabrerie, the patrons. On the garden side, the façade is decorated with pilasters and bands emphasising the two floors. An Italian-style balustrade conceals the flat roof.
